As an artist hailing from the Klamath Tribes in southern Oregon, Adrianna's creative journey has been deeply intertwined with her pursuit of a film degree at Portland State University. Gradually nearing the culmination of her academic endeavors, she's traversed a diverse array of studies, yet her passion has gravitated towards environmental justice and Indigenous philosophy.
Growing up immersed in Indigenous narratives and activism, she has ventured on a quest to unravel the intricate connections between these narratives and the environmental challenges confronting her community and beyond. Through the medium of film, she has endeavored to share Indigenous wisdom and perspectives, collaborating with individuals outside her community to catalyze change amidst the climate crisis.
Jasso's recent focus has been on a documentary project centered on the triumph of her tribe and neighboring tribes in advocating for the removal of dams along the Klamath River. What began as an exploration of the significance of water to Indigenous cultures evolved into a profound meditation on decolonization and environmental justice. As the narrative unfolded, she witnessed the polarizing effects of dam removal, prompting me to recognize the urgency of amplifying Indigenous voices through film.
This ongoing project serves as a testament to the resilience of Indigenous communities and the imperative of documenting their stories. In the course of her studies and filmmaking endeavors, she's been enriched by the wisdom and insights shared by numerous individuals, shaping her evolving perspective.
Ultimately, her artistic aspirations lie in Indigenous filmmaking. Recognizing the glaring absence of Indigenous stories in mainstream media, she is driven by a deep sense of responsibility to bridge this gap and reaffirm the authenticity of Indigenous identity. Through collaboration with her tribe and Indigenous communities nationwide, she is committed to cultivating platforms for the dissemination of their narratives, whether through documentary or narrative forms.
In every frame of her work, she seeks to honor the ancestral wisdom and resilience of Indigenous peoples, forging connections that transcend cultural divides and foster understanding in the global community.
Forests & the Climate Crisis: Representing PNW Forest Climate Alliance, Brenna will cover forest carbon climate science, including a discussion about about the various threats and opportunities surrounding forest management. Participants will be introduced to the PNW Forest Climate Alliance, a network of individuals and organizations throughout the PNW working at the intersection of climate justice and forest management.
Raised on Muckleshoot Prairie in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, a land of both towering trees and expansive clearcuts, Brenna Bell started advocating for forests in 1997. Her journey of advocacy took her up to tree sits, into lumber mills, across timber sales, through law school, to meetings, rallies, webinars and more . . . all with a focus of shifting forest management away from commodity production and towards ecological restoration and climate resilience. Over the past 25 years, Brenna has worked as an attorney and activist with several environmental advocacy organizations, including Willamette Riverkeeper, Bark and 350PDX and is a founding member of the Pacific NW Forest Climate Alliance. Along with working for forests, Brenna grows community at Tryon Life Community Farm, which she shares with 20 humans, seven dairy goats, 10,000 mason bees and so many others who wander through and weave life together.
Organic Living: empowering yourself through organic living while helping to address the climate crisis. During this workshop presentation we’ll discuss the ins and outs of why organic matters. We will dive into what organic really means, why third party certifications are so important, organic authenticity, organic regenerative agriculture not green washed regenerative marketing, organic family farms, organic food/products = healthy humans, ecosystems, farm workers, and reduced greenhouse emissions. We will also discuss toxics in conventional foods and products and review how these products are marketed through capitalism, how they bioaccumulate in your body, and what you can do to protect yourself and detoxify. Additional discussions will touch on how genetically engineered crops threaten our seeds, food supply, health, and ecosystems.
Nathan has over 20 years of experience working to protect our ecosystems from irresponsible corporate greed. Professionally he has worked as an activist to promote labeling genetically engineered foods nationally, stopped the Nestle Corporation from gaining access to his community’s water, and earned a paycheck from a variety of nonprofit and government ecosystem protection focused organizations. His passions include eating certified organic GE free food, minimizing toxics exposure, and gambling his savings account on eco-conscious community events.
Resilient Gardening for Climate Chaos: Backyard Biochar: Join Elona in learning how to turn woody debris into biochar: a carbon locking and water retaining soil conditioner that slowly releases nutrients when properly charged. We'll use a low-tech production method accessible to anyone with a Weber-style round grill. While our biochar is cooking, we'll dive deep into the science of fire, biochar, ash and compost, the latest in biochar research and discuss ways in which we can create more climate-resilient gardens in the Gorge.
Elona has been farming or gardening in Cascadia for the last 16 years. She's watched the weather become more and more unstable with every passing season. As a permaculture practitioner, she learns and practices techniques to create more resilient gardens for the Columbia Gorge. A chef, farmer and herbalist by trade (and tech whiz kid, too!) she approaches climate resilience with an understanding that practice makes progress. During her time with the Wind River Project, she began selling and promoting biochar by the ton and has since advocated for its creation and use at all scales for developing greater resilience to climate chaos here in the Columbia Gorge. She currently lives in Hood River.
Permaculture & the Big Picture: The goal of this workshop is to introduce some basic permaculture concepts and explore how these ethics of regenerative ecology can help bring human civilization into balance with the needs of people and the planet in our lifetimes. We will draw on wisdom from Joanna Macy, John Seed, and other ecological activist-teachers, and explore the ways permaculture ethics can intersect with social justice, carbon reduction, urban and rural landscapes, local and individual action, and the global shifts happening in this time.

What is Kava? Kava traditions have thrived for thousands of years amongst the South Pacific Islanders. A potent yet gentle brewing of the plants’ roots are steeped then “squeezed” in high vibrational water while intoned with whisperings of love and appreciation. What might one experience? The scientific community has discovered what the Hawaiians, Fijians, Samoans, Micronesians, and all Kava caretakers have known for generations- kava assists in uplifting spirit from moments of anxiety, depression, insomnia, muscle pains, and incessant thoughts. It does all this while not affecting mental clarity. Ready to dive deeper? Kava is a dream-time plant ally, is said to enliven creativity, opens the heart, and grounds for stability. If it’s your first time experiencing kava many of these effects may be vague as this medicine is subtle the first few sittings. Thereafter one becomes almost attuned to its energies and can more easily notice the significant, lovely shifts.

Deb's interest in tribal jewelry began with belly dance. Authentic and unusual tribal pieces were a must for the costumes as well as the "looks" she wanted to create. Many pieces became daily accessories and the hunt for the old and eclectic was on. > > When Deb's Mom died, she left her own collection of vintage world jewelry as well as that of her friend, who was an antique dealer, to Deb. That led to the opening of "Deb's Vintage Jewelry" in the Dalles. This opening coincided with Covid , and three years later Deb closed shop and took her jewelry on the road to fairs and festivals in the Pacific Northwest. If you like one of a kind tribal style, please come visit my booth.
